Android Village Hubs Pilot Project was Initiated at Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasala

              Sarvodaya fusion and Etisatal Company of Srilanka with the objective of empowering village level students (grassroots) commenced very innovative education task recently in Kurenegala district of Udubaddawa A.G.A. divisional secretariat.  This is pilot project of Srilanka and Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasala was selected as the education centre which this task is to be initiated.

         Udubaddaw Nisala Nenasala is one of telecentres(Nenasala wisdom outlets)  under the 1000 Nenasala centre network of Srilanka.  This project was initiated by presidential secretarial office and information communication agency of Srilanka under the guidance and leadership of His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksha, the president of democratic socialist republic of Srilanka.

          Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasala has been serving to entire public such as students, civilians, and private and state sector officers, incumbents of the area and businessmen of north western province.  Our main service is empowering them in information and communication technology and English language literacy.  We have been able to focus our main servicing to achieve above goal which relevant to government main target.

             Generally Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasala has established 53 distance education learning centers at village level in G.S. divisions of Kurunegala and Puttlum districts.  English language is taught in this kind of centers by teachers of Udubaddawa Nenasala and they have been used to go to the DEL centres once a week with printed monthly English magazine publish by Udubaddawa Nenasala under the approval of National Centre National Library and Documentation Services Board OF Srilanka through ISSN numbers.  This is the previous academic incidents, story and background of us in the past.

        Under the patronage of Sarvodaya fusion and Etisalat Company of Srilanka Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasala has been able to initiate and introduce innovative English teaching process to our students.  Above mentioned main facilitators of this project Sarvodaya fusion one of the leading and more than 50years old NGO in Srilanka and one of the leading telecommunication company in worldwide Etisalat Company offered Five android Huwavi tablet computers to us.  Android technology is the rapid and latest technology for day today using at the present and there are many free APPS relevant to English language learning and teaching process.  So we thoroughly think that this innovative initiative will be the first step of one of great , revolutionary teaching process of Srilanka in grass root level.

       Mr. Udara Dharmasena who is the coordinator for mobile 4D of Sarvodaya fusion was the main resource person for training android tablets to our Nenasala English teachers and Kalpanee Gunawardhana was the volunteer resource person for training our teachers the way of using to the APPS in Google market relevant to our English curriculum. “BUSSU” is the app we are to use to teach English for our students relevant to the English teaching curriculum at class wise. Already several training sessions were held in our centre situated in Sri Indrarama temple at Udubaddawa.

        The inauguration and introducing ceremony also held in last 11^th Thursday of July 2013 at the same place in Udubaddawa.

        So this is the beginning of one of stories to be innovative and revolutionary in the education field of Srilanka. Then we take this chance to thank especially for the Mr. Isura Silva manager of Sarvodaya Fusion, Mr.Udara Dharmasena, Ms. Kalpanee Gunawardhana, Executive officers of Etisalat Company who involve with this project introducing this kind of programme and keeping trust on ourselves and Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasala.  We make every possible effort to success this project and its objectives keeping our more attention.  Especially Mr. Nilupul Danhanjaya exective of Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasala has already got the main responsibility and coordination part with the teachers and he has planned to set up a help desk for teachers and the students and get the parents feedback of this regard.

Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasala was awarded by Provincial Best Nenasala Pranama Swarna Sammana 2013 Award by Information Communication Technology Agency of Srilanka

With the objective of empowering the Srilankan people through information and communication technology initiative was activated before 8 years ago under the guidance and leadership of His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksha, the president of democratic socialist republic of Srilanka Nenasala Wisdom Outlets (Telecentres) which direct the theme of “Global knowledge to village” owners, managers and operators admiring awards ceremony which nominated as “Nenasala Pranama Swarna Sammana 2013” took place in festive manner on last 26^th of July Friday at Mount Lawiniya Hotel.

In this occasion Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasla was selected as the best provincial Nenasala in North western province.  There are 70 Nenasala centrs have been established in all over the Kurunegala and Puttlum districts A.G.A. divisional secretariat-wise. Again we emphasized that Out of these established up to now the north western province “Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasala of Sri Indrarama Temple” was presented the Nenasala Pranama Swarna Sammana in appreciation of the dedication and incomparable service rendered in up lifting educational, social and economic status of the area.  Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology Honorable Ranjith Siyambalapitiya was the chief gust of this ceremony and we were awarded this  tremendous award by his valuable hand.

Representing the Information technology agency of Srilanka the chairman Pro.P.W. Epasingha, chief executive officer Mr. Reshan Devapura and Head of Communications & Media Mr. Athula Pushpakumara were present on this occation for admiring ourselves.

It is not exaggeration that our Nenasala has been admired and awarded as the number one in north western province.

UDUBADDAWA NISALA NENASALA 2012 AWARDS CEREMONY TOOK PLACE AT KULIYAPITIYA SRILANKA

What began as an initiative to increase the Srilankas IT and English language literacy level through Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasala students and put the udubaddawa Nisala nenasala in the Google map is today the North western province largest gathering of ICT professionals, academia, knowledge Leaders and policy makers.

It is 2013 now. We are passing the year of national information communication and English language. You will be glad to know this initiative inaugurated by his Excellency, President Mahinda Rajapaksha in two thousand nine. We are very happy that one of our genuine tasks has been fruitful by this time. It took countable years to establish this Diploma in Computer Application Course, KIDS IT course, Grade 5 Scholarships IT course, Web designing Course, Graphic designing Course, Computer Hardware Course and Certificate Course in English language. Here I would like to remind one of greatest saying that is “Example is better than precept” because Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasala, ICTA of Srilanka, Sarvodaya Fusion, resource pool of government school principals and ourselves were able to empower the grass root level changing the traditional teaching methods.

Especially through our distance education learning centre network in Kurunegala and Puttlum districts we were able to reach to each rural area with technology such as laptops, smart phones, Kindles and internet access. That was a great chance to the students who followed this English course and IT courses. Some times in the village areas we have found that in the government schools they don’t have the IT & English teachers for years.  So students find it difficult to study this subject. Actually in those cases as Nenasala we were able to fill that short comings. So this teaching process has a strong empowerment. On the other hand UDUBADDAWA NISALA NENASALA 2012 our students’ awards ceremony has become more valuable. This awards ceremony is based on the academic year for 2012.

Several new initiatives were introduced by the last academic year of 2012:

Ø Udubaddawa Nisala nenasala had over 1500 students from 53 distance education learning centres where situated at village level in Kurunrgala and Puttlum districts.  We held two examinations as midterm and final term.

Ø Final term test was held at six government schools in Kurunegala and Puttlm district. A pool of examiners from government schools supervise and examined that exam in last 1^st of December 2012.

Ø All the answer papers were assisted by the English director of zonal education office kuliyapitiya.

Ø According to the average marks the final result has been issued.

Ø 1577 students sat for both exams. Among them 1421 were able to pass through this achievement exams.600 students have been able to take “distinction pass” and they have come today to take their valuable certificates.  We have already held 6 regional certificate award ceremonies in last two months at Dankotuwa, Nattandiya, Udubaddawa, Pannala, Narangoda, Kuliyapitiya.

Ø First time in our Nenasala education process 100 students have been selected as the best achieved students for academic year 2012 of Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasala.

Ø Last but not the least, a Knowledge workshop was held across several locations with an objective to enhance computer literacy among school children in the districts of Kuunegala and Puttlum. The best achieved students of toady have already been enrolled for a free computer training programme.

In focus over the past 5 years has evolved into the north western province’s largest ICT and English exposition and has become a platform for the world to connect to the Srilankan ICT industry.

Our vision for Udubaddawa Nisala Nenasala 2013 is to make it even bigger and better, where a confluence of divergent thoughts, ideas, nationalities will all come together under one roof to make great things happen.

Finally we want all children, regardless of race, creed or circumstance to achieve their full potential. Our task is to make it possible. Our mission is to provide practical, step by step assistance.

FUSION EDUCATION AWARDS CEREMONY AT COLOMBO, MAHARAGAMA YOUTH CENTRE

It was great pleasure to be at Colombo, Maharagama Youth Centre for the 3^rd time for our fusion education awards ceremony on last 18th Friday.  FEAC 2009 and FEAC 2011 both took place at Moratuwa Sarvodaya 'Vishwa Samadhi' auditorium.  We had shifted to Maharagama Youth Centre on that day.  Actually change is need to develop the society; country or world and it must be in good manner.  Fusion sarvodaya and Nenasala and our selves have changed according to above manner with great empowerment and sustainability.  As Nenasala It should be emphasized that this is only one possible explanation for us in the past it means 2008 and 2009.

We were from Kurunegala district and it was not a easy task of implementing this kind of general or professional DICA course because at that time all the students and parents have been misled or misguieded by society.  We wanted to change and update the traditional IT courses or IT teaching methods.  By the time of today we think that we have been able to achieve that remarkable achievement.  That was happen because of sarvodaya fusion and the resource pool of Moratuwa University.  We thoroughly think that we have been upgraded also.  In 2009 there were only 100 students from islandwide, in 2011 there were more than 500 and  this time there were more than 1200 DICA holders here.  So this fusion DICA is growing and expanding day by day. A growing number of students or youth are returning to full-time IT education.  That is the turning point of this fusion DICA course.  That’s why we hightailed that this DICA course has a strong empowerment.

Although he was not there in FEAC 2012 firstly I would  like to thank very dignified character Dr. Harsha liyanage,  always helpfull leader for ourselves Mr isura silva, Miss Maithree one who teaches us always  , Mr. madushan one who do awareness  always ,Mr Danesh one who do innovations using IT always ,Mr. Udara one who facilitate us always , Mr Sumanasiri  one who empowered us and there is another unblemished brainer In charge of Resource pool University of Moratuwa Mr.D.D.Prabath. And also my thanks go to my colleagues specially Mr. Suranga Niroshan one who created the DICA highest marks taken youngest student forever among best students, Nilupul Dananjaya one who do all the visiting lecturers in Kurunegalla District , Mr. Rasika Wejesingha one who our new partner of Kuliyapitiya IBS , and he coordinated the dancing team too well. That day  we all were there because of you and your  great dedications and enthusiasm.

ONE OF SUCCESS FULL SOCIAL MEDIA WORKSHOPS AT UDUBADDAWA NISALA NENASALA

Today is 1st of April. Although we are tired we organized a social media work shop at Udubaddawa Divisional Secretariat Office Auditorium.This work shop was done for DICA students(Diploma In Computer Application)who follow this course in Udubaddawa Nenasala and Kuliyapitiya IBS institution.DICA is conducted by Sarvodaya Fusion.

There were 60 students for this workshop.They all are from villages.Most of them have their-own computers.But they are not good familiar with the social media.Because lack of internet facility,not real awareness about the social networks and parents have some bad superstitions of parents.So they find this work shop very interested.There were two very clever resource persons from Colombo for this task.Udara Darmasena from Sarvodaya fusion and Chamindra Hettitantirige from John Keells conducted the workshop.They did that in very active manner.Students were very enthusiastic for workshop. Among the topics     of workshop such as Facebook,Twitter, Net log,Tumbler "Art of Blog Writing" was very innovative part of the every participants. They emphasized the Blogging competition to be held in coming future.Students were asked to write their own Blogs using Blogger or word-press.I think this will be a new lesson for them.

Mobile bill payment

People are always busy with their day-today life style. Because of that they do not have enough time to do their all works. People have to pay every month their utility bills (electricity, Water, Insurance, etc). And also they have to spend much time as well as extra money to pay their utility bills. As a Nenasala we try to help the public to do their works easily. And we have already introduced a new way to people to pay their utility bills using smart phone (ANDROID HTTC) when they go here and there.

First of all we selected a target group such as government officers who working at Udubaddawa AGA office. And we discussed with them and appointed a day for month and we visit their working place and paying their utility bills using smart phone. The officers are very happy with this programme. It is very easy for them to pay bills using smart phone.

Udubaddawa Nenasala we used sampath bank “Vishwa” and sampathnet bill payment facility for this regard. We have done this utility bill payment in our Nenasala centre for 2 years. People highly appreciate this service. Lots of people visit our Nenasala centre to get this service. Trustworthy and Responsibility are very important for this kind of programme.

After successful 2 years service and we got the idea of improving our service and as a result of that we have been able to start Mobile Utility bill payment service. Our target group is working people. And we have selected our first target group in Udubaddawa AGA office.

We are an idea to improve this service selecting many working place s in Udubaddawa area.
